THE CCAs IN NYP!

Hi guys! THis is to tell you all more about our campus. First I will start off to tell you guys on our CCA offered in school.
For you guys who are interested in sports and games we have tennis, table tennis, Frisbee, rugby, Basketball, Soccer, Hockey, Badminton, Bowling, Taekwondo, Judo, Aikido, Fencing, Kendo, Tchoukball , Volleyball, Pool, Street Soccer, Beach volleyball, Archery.
For those who are interested in water sports and here are some sports that we recommend, Sprint Kayaking, Dragon boat, Water Polo, Swimming.
For those who are interested in mind sport the following CCA might be appealing to you. Chess, Chinese Chess, English chess.
For those who are interested in performing arts the following CCA might be appealing to you. Foreign Body, Cultural dance, Ballet, Drama, Selat, modern dance, Japanese dance.
For people who are interested in adventurous activities our school offers, adventure club, rock climbing and NYAA,
For people who are responsible we offers CCA such as Ambassador.

Although people enter to NYP is because of the courses. but with great CCA you are able to get more CCA point to score to go University

South Canteen

South Canteen is bright and airy, with greater food variety.South canteen’s grand opening was on the 18 of april 2010. The newly renovated canteen is located at the Engineering block. After lessons, you can head down with your friends to grab some food while waiting for the next class to start.

NYP was conferred the following awards for its exemplary HR practices at the recent Singapore HR Awards ceremony organised by the Singapore Human Resource Institute (SHRI):

NYP Bags Three Awards for Outstanding HR Practices

Ms Judy Tan, Director/Human Resource, received the awards on behalf of NYP during a presentation ceremony held on 2 July 2010.

These are not the first awards NYP has received for its outstanding HR-related systems and policies. In 2005, NYP was the first educational institution to be awarded the prestigious People Excellence Award conferred by SPRING Singapore, the highest accolade given to organisations for people excellence. In 2009, it was also the first educational institution to receive the Hewitt Best Employer Award, for being one of the top 11 employers in Singapore.

We had a YOG briefing today at 2.45pm. It was for the volunteers for the YOG event on the 7th of August. It was held at the Sports hall which about 400++ people attended. Here are some photos before and during the briefing.

See the amount of people that turned up? This photo was taken at the start which people were still coming in. So the full amount was not taken. This means that YOG is a very big thing that is going on in Singapore. Singapore is the first country to hold the Youth Olympic Games. And here is a picture of an indoor rock climbing wall, rappelling wall in our sports hall.

Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) is situated next to the Yio Chu Kang MRT station. It is only a 6 to 8 minutes walk from the MRT ,and you can just follow the shelter on your left or follow the crowd of students and you will reach NYP.

Some of the facilities found in the campus include a fully computerised library, specialist laboratories, a 300-seater Theatre for the Arts and a 1,200-seater auditorium. The retail outlets on campus provide a wide range of merchandise such as multimedia accessories, stationery, gift items, sports goods, and food items. It is very affordable and almost all of the retail outlets is being manage by our own students. this is to let them to have a hands-on experience.

For sports enthusiasts, the track and field, adventure challenge park, gymnasium, and rock-climbing facilities allow you to sweat it out and tone up your muscles. For a less strenuous sport, organise a game of badminton, table tennis or basketball in our air-conditioned sports hall. Or if you prefer a cool sport, then head for a plunge at our Olympic-sized swimming pool. And our school is encouraging students to sign up for the YOG as a volunteer.
